There are plenty of tournaments locally. Here are some that are coming up soon, with a link to the entry form where it is available online.

Dearne Valley Archery Club WFAL February Field Shoot

Taking place: Sunday 19th February 2012

FITA marked field shoot for the Winter Field Archery League. 12 targets for the WFAL score, and the option to go round again if you fancy it! To be held at Savin Royd Wood, Haigh Lane, near Woolley.

Taking place: Sunday 19th February 2012

UK Record Status Combined FITA (FITA 25m and FITA 18m) to be held at South Ribble Tennis Centre, Cuerden Way, Bamber Bridge PR5 6BJ.

York Archers Society 2nd Annual WRS FITA 18

Taking place: Sunday 26th February 2012

World Record Status FITA 18 round. Three sessions - if shooting more than one session, only the first will count for purposes of awards. To be held at Sandburn Hall, Flaxton, York YO60 7RB.

Barnsley Archery Club's Early Bird Western

Taking place: Sunday 4th March 2012

Blow away the indoor cobwebs with a Western round, to be held at Barnsley RUFC ground, Shaw Lane, Barnsley.

Archers of Bridlington & Burton Agnes 1st ABBA Dabba Do Longbow Shoot

Taking place: Saturday 10th March 2012

One way Western round for longbow shooters. Bacon butties on arrival and sherry after two dozen arrows. An Agincourt volley will be shot. To be held at Burton Agnes Sports Field, Rudston Road, Burton Agnes, Driffield YO25 4NE.

YAA Annual County Indoor Championships & Open Meeting

Taking place: Sunday 11th March 2012

Record Status Portsmouth round, for the Yorkshire Archery Association's Indoor Championships. Morning and afternoon sessions - if shooting both sessions, only the first will count for purposes of awards. To be hosted by The Wakefield Archers at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield.

Phoenix Bowmen 5th Floodlit Pie & Peas National Shoot

Taking place: Saturday 24th March 2012

Hey, that's us! National round to be shot under floodlights, followed by steak pie with peas. Added attractions this year: stands that will hold the bosses on properly, and a raffle! To be held at Halifax RUFC's ground at Ovenden Park, Keighley Road, Halifax HX2 8AR.

The Saint George Longbow Tournament

Taking place: Sunday 22nd April 2012

To all those skilled at shooting in the long bow - Greetings! The Bowmen of Adel, as custodians of the Royal Armouries Arrow, invite all true and honest bowmen, shooting in a traditional longbow, to compete for the award of this perpetual trophy in a contest celebrating St.George’s Day. Assheton Bowmen 17th Northern Novice Shoot

Taking place: Sunday 20th May 2012

American round for seniors and St Nicholas round for juniors. A friendly shoot for archers with less than two years of experience who will be Second Class or lower on the day. More experienced or higher-classified archers are welcome to shoot, but will not be eligible for awards. To be hosted by Assheton Bowmen at Tudor Lodge, Victoria Avenue East, Manchester M40 5SM.

Archers of East Riding Double Clout Weekend

Taking place: Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May 2012

YAA Jubilee Celebration Shoot

Taking place: Bank Holiday Monday 4th June 2012

Record Status Western-family rounds in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. This is a one-off which, though record status, is intended to be a friendly shoot suitable for all standards of archer. Any archer may shoot any Western-family round from New Western to Short Junior Western, and awards will be given for all rounds and disciplines. To be held at Grange Park Sports Club, Wetherby.

YAA 26th Longbow Championships and Open Meeting

Taking place: Saturday 11th August 2012

York and double National rounds, for the YAA's Longbow Championships. This Tournament will be two-way shooting under the British Longbow Society Rules - three-arrow ends with no sighters or bouncers, but plenty of sherry and cake.
